Location: Surrounded by Miles of Ocean and Canals

Fort Lauderdale is situated on the southeast coast of Florida, right in the middle of Florida's beach tourism, but it is also surrounded by an extensive network of canals. In fact, there are over 260 kilometers of waterways within Fort Lauderdale. One of these canals connects pieces of the city together, since northwestern portion of Fort Lauderdale is separate from the rest of the city. The Cyprus Creek Canal flows under I-95 and connects this portion to the rest of the land.

Business: Desirable for New and Relocating Businesses

Fort Lauderdale, once known only for its tourism, is now a renowned international business center. The city's economy now runs off a plethora of industries, such as manufacturing, finance, marine, and real estate. In recent years, the area has become popular for film and television production. Some well-known businesses have made Fort Lauderdale their home: AutoNation, Spirit Airlines, and Citrix Systems are based in the city.

Culture: Arts and Nightlife

In Fort Lauderdale, there is something to do at every time of day. The beloved Riverwalk is lined with historical, cultural, and artistic attractions. Residents and visitors of all ages can enjoy learning and fun at the Museum of Discovery & Science, or see a play at Broward Center for the Performing Arts. When the sun goes down, entertainment shifts to the bars and clubs, such as the Elbo Room, featured in the 1960 film Where the Boys Are. The Fort Lauderdale area is also home to over 4,000 restaurants.

Activities: Water, Water Everywhere

Fort Lauderdale is a water lover's dream. From fishing to cruises and boat tours, to water sports and swimming, the possibilities are never ending with all of the city's ocean walks and canals. Once you get bored of the water, put on your dancing shoes. The city hosts at least one free concert a month, which guarantees entertainment for the whole family without breaking the bank. If shopping is what you desire, head over to Las Olas Boulevard, where you find anything from souvenirs to fine fashion.
