As one of Britain's leading city break destinations, there is no shortage of hotels in Liverpool. With an active city centre and a busy port, Liverpool has undergone a transformation over the last decade, since being named European Capital of Culture in 2008. Known for its love of football and being home to the Beatles, Liverpool is now developing itself as one of the country's leading business destinations, though to this day the city is known for its manufacturing and port-related industries.

With an international airport, a train hub in the city centre as well as a number of motorways on its outskirts, Liverpool is well-served in terms of transportation. Once you arrive in the city, taxis can be found quite easily or alternatively the city's bus service covers a large area.

What are some points of interest for the business traveller?

If you are visiting for an exhibition, the city's main convention centre can be found by the waterfront, in the former Kings Dock area. The newly built complex, the ACC Liverpool, occupies three buildings. Since its opening it has staged a number of events, most notably the International Festival for Business, Britain's largest ever business festival.

And at the heart of the city's regeneration over the last decade is the Liverpool One complex. This is Britain's largest open air shopping and leisure centre, but those not in the mood for retail therapy will be more likely to enjoy its many restaurants, bars, cinemas, and two golf courses.

My hotel is in the centre of Liverpool. What can I do here?

If you wish to do something more cultural during your stay, then you are spolit for choice with Britain's biggest selection of museums and art galleries outside of London. Visit the city's oldest museum, the World Museum, offering exhibits on natural history, or go along to Liverpool's newest addition, the historically impactful International Slavery Museum.

The centre of Liverpool is also home to the oldest Chinatown in Europe, where you can sample its diverse cuisine and vibrant culture, as well as take a look at the large ceremonial arch which can be found at the entry to the district, a testament to the city's international mindset and welcoming nature.
