Tampere is a vibrant city in southern Finland, some 170 km north of the capital Helsinki. With over 200,000 inhabitants, it is Finland's third largest city and a thriving business hub that is extremely well-equipped to welcome business travellers. Hotels in Tampere are less than two hours' drive or train journey away from the country's capital, Helsinki, or you can fly directly into the city's own well-connected international airport.

What will I find in Tampere?

Tampere boasts an impressive geographical location between two large lakes. It has more to offer than natural beauty though, as the city is also a key location for business, technology, research, education, culture and sports. In fact, this region is one of the fastest growing areas in Finland. The infrastructure and services are excellent and there are plenty of sightseeing opportunities, such as the observation tower in Pyynikki Park with breathtaking views of the surrounding city, lakes and landscape. In the evenings, theatres, concert halls, pubs and restaurants come to life all over the city and, if you come during winter, you may even be lucky enough to see the famous northern lights.

What does Tampere offer for business travellers?

Tampere Hall, the largest purpose-built conference and congress centre in Scandinavia, hosts many international events. Most of Tampere's hotels are located close to the city centre, with conference venues, restaurants and shops all nearby. There are a wide variety of event locations to choose from too. You can even shake up your everyday routine by holding a meeting in a beautiful log cabin surrounded by Finnish nature at the Sappee Skiing Centre. Group activities such as skiing in winter or Frisbee in summer will provide a bit of light relief between meetings.

What else can I do during my hotel stay in Tampere?

From your Tampere hotel you might like to take a guided tour of the city or go shopping in the city's boutiques and flea markets, then refuel with some local delicacies such as berries or locally produced wine. More active travellers might like to hire a bike and cycle around town or try a range of water sports, such as kayaking and river floating, which would make ideal team building events too. And after all that action, a relaxing lake cruise is a great way to wind down.
