Solignac developed around the Abbey founded in 632 by St Eloi was an important rest for pilgrims on route to St Jacques de compestelle and is worth a rest on your route to the south. Nestling in the beautiful valley of the Briance it is close to the many chateaux on the route de Richard Coeur de Lion the closest being the feudal château fort of Chaluset. Close by is the wildlife park of Reynou and Limoges with its heritage and porcelaine. Further afield is the memorial village of Oradour sur Glane
