Positive: The hotel is clean, tidy, and everything is going systematically in well-order. The receptionists are helpful, the cleaning of the rooms is regular.
Negative: The hotel is far from Basel (it is actually in a German border town), so you have to depend on a taxi every day to connect to city center. The room was a little "cool," but OK.
The restaurant waitresses might have been a little more positive or helpful. Carat is an "OK / good" hotel, but mainly for the business travellers. Not recommended to tourists travelling for pleasure and sightseeing in Basel.
Negative: No room service !
