Directions to hotel
Take the exit „Luzern Zentrum“. Go onto the right hand most lane after exiting the tunnel. Turn right (marker says “Gütsch”), stay on the right lane. At the traffic light turn right and drive across the bridge “Geissmattbrücke”. Just after the bridge turn right and drive through a small tower which is built across the road (St. Karlistrasse). Drive along the river until the wooden bridge (left curve in the road, wooden bridge on the right). At the wooden bridge turn right (look for brown hotel markers) and you will come onto a square (Mühlenplatz). Drive across the square. Ignore the no entry signs (you are allowed to drive in as hotel guests) and turn right immediately after the square. Second road left and then onto the Weinmarkt. The Best Western Hotel Krone is right next to the fountain.

positiv: This hotel has an ice machine! In Germany, Switzerland and Austria, this is very unique and appreciated. It is located on the first floor which is actually the floor above the reception. The hotel is located on a nice square in the old town. Excellent location.
negativ: The hotel is in the old town, and the streets are mostly pedestrian cobbled stone streets and are not exactly car friendly. There is no parking at the hotel, and the valet parking is about $30 a night. This is typical of hotels in this area. Our GPS tried to take us across the historic wooden bridge because it couldn't differentiate car friendly pedestrian streets from car impossible pedestrian streets. We had to park our car on the street across the river/lake and walk to the hotel to figure out how to drive to the hotel.
positiv: The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. We asked her where to get the best pizza in Lucerne..and she sent us to a small Italian restaurant which was filled with locals...and the pizza was fantastic! We appreciated having a fan in the room...that helped a lot to cope with the heat. We loved having free WLAN internet in our room. We try to book only hotels with free internet!!
negativ: The breakfast was OK but I would have liked some fresh fruit...it is summer when all sorts of local fruits are available.
positiv: The hotel was exceptionally clean.
negativ: The reception closed at 10:00 pm and as we arrived at 9:30 pm after check in we did not have the chance to inquire about the free internet connection.
positiv: Nice and lfriendly staff!!
negativ: bathrooms were a wee bit small!!
