Positive: Amazing location from the underground. Very convenient!
Negative: After they cleaned my room on my 2nd day, they did not close my room door. It was open when I got back later that evening.
Positive: The staff is very friendly
Negative: The room is more or less the bed, the nice pictures on hrs.com and the 3-star rating, hide this fact and therefore misguided me. Also the room might have been refurbished, it remained still 2 stars or lower in my opinion. Also the doors/walls are thin, so we were disrupted at night by noisy neighbours.
Positive: The bathroom was amazing, new, marble, fantasic shower head...
Negative: but the towels were small and threadbare, and the mattress had springs poking you in the back (though they did change it when we complained) - and the internet access in the room where we were (basement, poked away at the far end) was very poor... the hotel is a MAZE of corridors, and doors, easy to get lost!
Positive: WIFI at no extra cost,
Keep luggage in hotel at no extra cost
Negative: I couldn't see how to control the heating in the room. It was uncomfortably hot so i had to leave the window open at night to get the right balance.
Positive: I love the atmosphere and the decor.
The courtyard is lovely for breakfast on a sunny day.
Negative: I've stayed at the Mayflower a few times now. On 16/7 they put me in a studio apartment some distance away. Although this was spacious, it was a little shabby, on the 3rd floor with no lift and I felt somewhat vulnerable. Some rooms in the hotel can be a little cramped and with few surfaces, eg on which to use a laptop.
Negative: some noise from the underground, windows and fastenings should be fixed more properly, wind is blowing in.
Positive: Friendly staff. Clean hotel. Breakfast/reception/cleaning staff all polite, friendly, attentive and courteous.
Negative: Breakfast room is very crowded and very busy due to lack of spaces between tables. Not the place to be if you want a quiet relaxing breakfast. The food was good and extras may be purchased such as full English breakfast, scrambled eggs, toast etc.
Positive: Very good continental breakfast with excellent fresh fruit salad and fruit selection and nice yoghurts
Positive: hotel staff very helpful
Positive: clean
Negative: very small rooms; no willing to help from staff and management
Positive: The staff was very helpful, recommending restaurants for us and locating other services we wanted outside the hotel.
Negative: We heard some noise both nights that we were there. We thought this was due to other travelers with early morning departures, but the walls seemed thin, as we could hear their activities clearly.
