- We will temporarily close Morgans, the original boutique hotel, on May 18, 2008 to undergo a complete renovation. The renovation will be led by internationally renowned designer Andrée Putman, marking her return to update the iconic property. We will re-open on September 15, 2008 As one of our most valued accounts at Morgans, we trust that you understand our decision and our commitment to ensure your guests will be well served during this closure by one of our other NYC hotels, Royalton or Hudson. Positive: The location is OK, in the center between the villages and uptwon. A good place to start a long walk.
Negative: The major colour in the hotel is grey (the walls, the floor in the bathroom) combined with a brown carpet and dim lights it is not clear whether this is a design feature or a way to hide dirty carpets. While the amenties are nice (fashionable bed and bath accessoirs), the whole atmosphere is rather depressing (grey) and the brown carpet has already a number of stains -I ams sure one would have seen much more dirt with the proper light). While a 4 start hotel should be nice enough to provide you with a toothbruch the morgans sells one for a couple of dollars. Internet access is not fro free. Breakfast is typical american (muffin, danish and bagels). However there are fruits and everything was of very good quality.
