Guanacaste is home to the unique dry tropical forests of the region. The forest provides a way to escape the humidity you find across the rest of Central America, and as a result is very popular with visitors and locals. If you are a surfer, then this is one of the best destinations you can imagine. For the rest of us, there is sport fishing, volcano tours and horseback riding. You can try out an exciting zip line, rock climbing, and a myriad of other activities. All of this is within minutes of your Guanacaste hotel.
The new international airport in Liberia has really opened up Guanacaste to the world. The airport is connected to most of the major hub airports in the USA. From San Jose, you can take a ferry from Puntarenas to the far side of the Golfo de Nicoya, and then travel by an old road. A better route to your Guanacaste hotel is over the Puenta de la Amistad. You can travel this route by car or bus.
