Hamburg University, or Universität Hamburg in German, was officially founded in March 1919, but its roots date back to 1613. Currently around 40,000 students are in attendance here. Hamburg is a busy harbour city with many things to see and do. You can get out of your Hamburg University hotel and go shopping on Mönckebergstraße, the main central shopping district in the city. Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel Airport is the fifth largest airport in Germany and it provides important flight connections for the city. The city's S-Bahn train network is connected to the airport and you can take the S1 direct to the city centre, and even directly to your Hamburg University hotel. The city has an extensive U-Bahn network in addition to the S-Bahn, and excellent bus routes as well. ICE trains run to and from the city to destinations across Germany and Europe.
