Andermatt is a very small town in Switzerland with less than 1500 people. It is made up mostly of foreign nationals. The majority of the population is German, Portuguese, and Italian. Andermatt lies at the foot of the Oberalppass in the valley of Urseren. Over forty percent of the area is agricultural in nature in Andermatt. Hotels in the surrounding areas are easy to look for if the rooms are all booked in the town itself. Andermatt hotels are very popular due to the winter sports tourism.
There are several Andermatt hotels, spas, resorts, apartments, and holiday homes to choose from when you are visiting this part of Switzerland. You can enjoy indoor pools, shops, an 18-hole golf course, ice rink, and a sports and leisure centre. For those travelling on business, most industries lie outside the municipality of Andermatt. Hotels may or may not provide aid in transportation. The railway station Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn also offers transport to larger cities within the area.
