Formerly known as Angora, the history of the city goes back to the crossroads of civilisation. You can experience this by walking up the hill to the Citadel Gate, where you can buy fresh fruits, nuts and spices in one of the many shops. You may also find many of the finest restaurants and hotels in Ankara in this area. Some of the other sights are Ataturk's Tomb and Museum and the Roman Baths. After a long day of business meetings, you can relax at a Turkish Bath. Many of the hotels in Ankara feature spas, pools, and fitness centres, where you can unwind after a busy day.
Esenboga Airport is located about 28 km northeast of the city of Ankara. Hotels in the city can be reached by taxi or shuttle bus. Havas has a scheduled bus route which can take you from the Gar Train Station to the airport every half hour. The city buses are a cheap alternative, with both a private and public bus system. There are two underground systems, metro and light metro, one running north of the city to the centre, the other going south. The hotels of Ankara are easily accessible using any of these modes of transportation.
