On the comer of the brightest spot in the world- ground broke on November 16- 1964- for one of the most famous Glitter Gulch landmarks -- the Four Queens Hotel/Casino. The hotel was dedicated to owner/builder Ben Goffsteins four daughters- Faith- Hope- Benita and Michele. It began as a pint-size property with 120 rooms and a casino of 20-000 square feet. Under creative leadership it has grown to be a jewel in todays downtown Las Vegas. In 1976- the casino expanded to 33-000 square feet- and the new decor set the interior-decorating trend for Las Vegas casinos by replacing the typical gambling-house red and black with warm earth tones.
