Spa Terms A-Z
Caldarium to cream-oil baths
Callanetics
Gentle, oft-repeated exercises train the deep musculature, tone soft tissue and skin, and reduce fat.
Chakra meditation
According to ancient Indian chakra philosophy, the human body has seven centres of life force, or chakras, each associated with different sets of organs. It is these that this form of meditation focuses on.
Chi ball
A ball soaked in a variety of different aromas. Associated with far-eastern and western gymnastics and relaxation exercises.
Cleopatra bath
Wrapped in pre-warmed clothes soaked in milk and essential oils, the person rests and relaxes on a waterbed or special soft couch. Particularly good for hydrating and moisturising skin.
Craniosacral therapy
The flow of cerebrospinal fluid from the skull (cranium) to the sacrum is believed to have a decisive effect on well-being. Blockages to this flow are relieved through special gentle manipulation, thereby stimulating the body's self-healing forces.
Cream-oil baths
Cream-oil is spread over the skin. The person is then wrapped in foil and laid in water. This helps the skin absorb the components of the oil better. The sensation of floating in the constantly temperate water is extremely relaxing.
