Data protection + security
The principles of data protection
The Hotel Reservation Service (HRS) takes the protection of your privacy and your personal data very seriously. We would therefore like to explain what data we collect, what we use it for and how we protect your data. These data protection principles do not apply to Web sites that may be accessed by clicking on hyperlinks on HRS Web pages.
1. General information on data protection and the purpose of data storage
What data do we collect?

Whenever you make a hotel reservation using HRS, we collect the data that we require to make the reservation, particularly your name, telephone number and e-mail address ("contact details"), as well as your arrival and departure dates, the name of the hotel and the type of room booked ("booking details").Contact
General questions may be addressed to us using the Contact field. In order to be able to process your enquiries, we collect your contact details. This data is deleted again once the enquiry has been dealt with.MyHRS
MyHRS may be used to register as a user of our site by entering your contact details. One of the advantages of being registered is that you do not have to re-enter your details every time you make a booking. You may un-register again at any time. To do so, simply send an e-mail to datenschutz@hrs.de.
We will then delete your contact details. MyHRS also enables users to be kept informed by e-mail about travel tips, changes to the site, special offers, etc. It can also be used to subscribe to a newsletter. Users are free to choose whether or not to benefit from this form of customer support, and may unsubscribe again at any time.
Who receives my data?
Whenever you make a booking using HRS, your booking details are passed onto your chosen hotel to enable the reservation to be made. Apart from this, your data is not passed on to any third parties. Under no circumstances will HRS sell or lend out your contact details.
In exceptional circumstances, legal regulations, judicial or official orders may require us to hand data over to the relevant authority or court. However, this is only undertaken within the framework of our legal obligations. In accordance with the data protection regulations, your personal details are usually deleted 60 days after the end of your stay.
2. Information on data protection
How safe is it to transfer data to HRS?
All data you provide to HRS is encoded and transmitted using the 128-bit SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) protocol. This is a tried-and-tested system used by browsers the world over to encrypt data automatically before transmitting it us.
How secure is my data on the HRS database?
We apply HRS's strict safety standards for our database and Internet server in order to provide effective protection against loss, misuse, divulgence, alteration and deletion of and unauthorised access to your data.
3. Cookies
What are cookies?
Cookies are small pieces of information that your browser stores on your computer's hard disk. They simplify booking by automatically calling up frequently-used data on sites you have already visited. You can set your computer to not store any cookies on your computer. However, this may prevent you using some of the functions we offer. The basic "search-and-book" functions can also be used without cookies.
4. Facebook
We have integrated the "Like" button of Facebook Inc, 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA ("Facebook") into our homepage. Whenever you load this page, your browser automatically establishes a connection to the Facebook servers and Facebook receives appropriate information.
If you have a Facebook account, Facebook can make the connection between your visit to our page and your Facebook account, provided you are either logged on to Facebook or have Facebook cookies stored on your computer. If you click on the "Like" button or enter a comment, this is stored by Facebook and shown on your Facebook profile. If you do not want Facebook to store such data on you, please log off Facebook and delete all Facebook cookies before visiting the HRS Web site.
Please refer to the Facebook data protection guidelines for information about the purpose and extent of the data collected, the processing and use of such data by Facebook, and the options for protecting your privacy.
5. Location data
When searching for hotels, you can display results close to your current location using our mobile solutions. To do this, you need to share your current location with HRS. Your location is only shared when you use the local search function. The data is only used for determining the appropriate search results. The location data is not saved by HRS and is not reused in any other form.
6. Questions
You may ask to see your stored personal data at any time. You also have the right to correct, delete or block (incorrect) data. Contact details should be amended under MyHRS. However, contractual and/or legal regulations, particularly those relating to accounting and payment, may prevent certain data from being deleted. Questions about our data protection principles should be addressed to:
