          Ismaning – Investing in renewable energy and technology

          Ismaning has embraced the positive thinking behind renewable energy systems and put them into practice with projects that include geothermal heating, photovoltaics, wind power generation and hydro-electricity. This forward thinking has seen almost 10% of its electricity supply coming from domestic solar installation and almost 30% from hydro-electric power and puts it in the top tier of towns in Germany for renewable energy generation.           Location: Within the Munich commuter belt

          Just outside of the E45/E52 ring-road of Munich to the west of the Speichersee can be found this charming little town. With just over 16,000 inhabitants, its compact size is dwarfed by the neighbouring city and makes it appear smaller than it actually is. The River Isar runs along its western edge and Munich airport is only 25 kilometres to the north and allows for easy international travel.
