It was used as offices for the trios business dealings and was a venue for some of Shanghais most extravagant parties during concession times. The hotel decoration restores this notorious vintage atmosphere in respect of modern luxury standard. Stepping through the front door is like stepping back in time to the Shanghai city of the 1930s. The lobby- the corridors and the rooms are filled with antiques a box camera here- a gramophone there- an old pistol in one cabinet- original company documents in another.
