A winter sports village famous for the easy access to world-class ski runs, epic mountain routes, and beautiful scenery, it is also justifiably popular in summer when it comes alive with walkers, mountain bikers, and climbers of all abilities who enjoy the trails amongst the mountains of the Jungfrau region. Easily accessed from the major cities of Basel, Geneva, and Zurich means that you can fly into one of their international airports and be in Grindelwald within a maximum of two hours to enjoy a weekend break in this outdoor lover’s playground, and still make it back to the office on Monday morning. There are a wide range of apartments, hotels, and rooms available for all budgets, from luxury 5-star spas to simple, basic, and clean family-run rooms for you to choose from.
Location: The home of Europe's highest railway station
Settled in a glacial valley of the Bernese Oberland, Grindelwald is 195 kilometres south of Zurich, 205 kilometres east of Geneva, and just 70 kilometres to the south-east of Bern. It has direct rail links to the airports at Zurich and Geneva, which makes it very accessible to the international traveller. The mountains that surround the town are infamous in their own right with the North Face of the Eiger looking down upon Grindelwald from its 3,970-metre peak that was only breached in 1938.
