For such an industrial town, Hilden is environmentally conscious and their efforts to go green in recent years is something eco-friendly tourists will find very appealing. The town’s main street is a pedestrian zone that visitors can stroll through to explore Hilden inhibited by traffic and car fumes. Also, it is one of the few German towns that has mandated a reduction in residential speed limits to 30 km/hour, in order to encourage more cycling within the city limits.
