Straubing – Settled Since the Neolithic Period

Originally inhabited in the Neolithic period by nomadic people, it was eventually conquered by the Romans in 16 BC, leaving its mark on the region. Later, it became a Bavarian settlement around St. Peter's Church. A new part of town was later founded and became the current city center, which is now filled with offices, restaurants, and shops. This is also where most of the local nightlife is located. Though the town is small, it has 45,000 residents and many exciting activities to partake in, including many annual festivals and events, and the only zoo in East Bavaria.
