Standing at an altitude of 1050 metres, this village is on the border of the Sierra de Huétor Natural Park with its impressive deep ravines, dark caves, and rich wildlife. The commune became well-known as a result of the execution of the poet Federico García Lorca during the Spanish Civil War. A park outside the village recalls this act.
