A city currently experiencing rapid growth, Cairo is internationally renowned for its history and economic performance. Just around the corner is the General Organization for International Exhibitions & Fairs. Cairo’s construction industry is enormous. It hosts the Intelligent Cities Exhibition Conference and the Urban Planning and Architectural Design for Sustainable Development Forum. Finance, energy, professional services and IT are other major sectors in the city.
Those with even a passing interest in history will be fascinated by the sheer range of sights in this city. With the pyramids so close by, it’s possible to get a taxi, bus or metro there in no time. The Pharaonic Village near the city centre showcases life in Ancient Egypt. For fine dining, Cairo's luxury hotels are actually some of the best places to experience authentic Egyptian cuisine cooked to a high standard. Heliopolis and Zamalek are great places to find delectable food, notably Le Méridien and the Hotel Sofitel Cairo El Gezirah.
