Under 10,000 people live in the town that is within easy commuting distance of Frankfurt, and it has something of a reputation as an exclusive area to live in. It has been said that the house prices in Kronberg are the most expensive in the country, and when you see how beautiful a town it is, you can easily understand why. A popular tourist destination, being a state recognised spa town since 1966, it is also a popular starting point for many outdoor activities in the mountains and forests that surround it.
Just 18 kilometres to the south-east lies the city of Frankfurt, which offers road, rail, and air connections to the rest of Europe and the world. Kronberg itself is bordered on three sides by rich forestry and gentle hills, which climb higher as you reach the Taunus Mountains that rise majestically to the north.

Found in the centre of Kronberg, it is easily reached on foot or by car from any location within the town.
It does not matter if you visit in summer or winter, the calendar of events is always full. Listen to the wonderful organ music in St. Johann Church, a regular event throughout the year, or take in one of the many museums of which the City Museum at the Castle is one of the finest. The city has organised cultural events since 1969 through the Kronberger Kulturkreis committee, and stages annual events, such as the International Street Theatre, the Kronberger Culture Night, and a festival of Baroque music that attracts visitors in their thousands to this picturesque town.
The Opel Zoo is just 4 kilometres to the north of the town centre, and offers a great place to see some rare and endangered animals in a sympathetic environment created especially for them. One of the major attractions of the area, it has animals from all over the world and includes a purpose-built elephant enclosure that allows you a chance to take some wonderful close up photos of these majestic creatures.
