Renowned in the region for its strengths in industry and logistics, this mid-sized town is just 21 km from Düsseldorf and 24 km from Cologne. Visit the nearby twelfth-century monastery of Knechtsteden, with its impressive Romanesque basilica. The monastery is located in the Zons district, which is sometimes referred to as the 'Rheinische Rothenburg'. Alternatively, head to the Geopark to see million year old stones that reveal the planet's history. The Romer-Therme is a great spot for indoor swimming and surfing whilst Dormagen has 52 sports clubs in which to keep busy, covering practically every sporting activity.
