Croydon is a borough of London, just 20 minutes by train to Victoria station. It’s a popular location for commuters who prefer to live outside of central London, and an important centre for business in its own right. It’s long been a major transport hub between the capital and the south of England, and it continues to develop as a core location for many of the country’s big businesses. Booking a hotel in Croydon also puts you near an excellent array of nightlife and shopping opportunities.
Croydon is accessed by a string of train stations, the largest being East Croydon. It’s also distinct from the centre of London for its large tram system, which links it to other districts, including Wimbledon. Near West Croydon station is the borough’s main thoroughfare, with a range of shops and restaurants including the Whitgift Shopping Centre. A number of new apartment developments continue to pop up around the town centre. They cater to the increasing demands of the city’s professional crowd. The borough's location makes it ideal for transport to other nearby towns, including Brighton, Maidstone, Reading and Basingstoke.
The Croydon Conference Centre is right in the heart of town, and is where the borough’s workers meet off-site to do business. The Beddington Conference Centre is a short drive from here and offers further space for meetings. Legal and financial companies, particularly insurance, are among the area’s biggest employers. Many are also employed in Croydon’s wide selection of retail businesses. Large firms in the area include Liverpool Victoria, AECOM and Bank of America. It’s also the headquarters of Nestlé UK, located in Nestlé Tower.
