Smithfield Foods, the world's largest distributor of pork products, has two large bases in Timisoara. There are two state of the art Business Centres in the city, which have almost 10,000m2 of conference space between them, plus meeting rooms and parking spaces. They provide excellent support for investors, and the innovation events held there are regarded as the best in the county.
Timisoara has been selected as the European Capital of Culture for 2021. The city's panoply of cultural attractions include the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Renaissance-style Opera, and Huniade Castle, which is nearly 1,000 years old. Sports fans will find Timisoara's main sports facilities, Olimpia Sport Hall and Dan Paltinisanu Stadium, near the Regional Business Centre.
