Herrsching is located on the eastern shore of Lake Ammersee, south-west of Munich in Upper Bavaria. The area is known as the “Five-Lakes-Country,” which also includes other popular bodies of water, name Lakes Starnberg, Pilsensee, Wörthsee, and Wesslinger See. It is positioned on one of the stops of the suburban rapid transit train network to Munich, which is about 45 km away. This easy access makes it a popular destination with visitors. Take a walk up the mountains through the Kien Valley to reach Andechs Monastery at the top, only 6 km from the small centre of Herrsching.
