Dating back to the 13th century, Triberg is a beautiful town, which has a lot to offer its visitors. Simply taking in the stunning surroundings is a pleasure, or treat yourself to a slice of the famous Black Forest gateau in one of the many restaurants and cafés. Triberg has plenty to keep the whole family occupied, from a visit to Germany's highest waterfalls, to high-ropes courses and nature parks. There are plenty of shops and restaurants, and of course, Triberg makes a fantastic base from where to explore the rest of this beautiful area.
The town is set in a romantic landscape right in the heart of the Black Forest region of Germany. From here, you can easily reach both Switzerland and France, should you wish to explore all three countries in one go! Easily accessible by car, the town also has several car parks for cars and coaches. There are good bus connections, and Triberg has its own railway station. The town is on the Offenburg-Konstanz line, which has long-distance intercity trains. There are also international airports in Stuttgart, Strasbourg, and Zurich.
The Black Forest region is famous for its cuckoo clocks, and they are still made in Triberg today following ancient traditions. See the world's biggest cuckoo clock in nearby Schonach or visit the Black Forest Museum to discover more local traditions. Follow in the footsteps of many others, and visit the pilgrimage church, "Maria in der Tanne", built at the turn of the 18th century.
No trip to Triberg would be complete without visiting Germany's highest waterfalls. Marvel at the rushing waters, which tumble from a vertical drop of 163 metres, into the river Gutach below. Follow one of the three walking trails around the waterfalls, feed the squirrels, and pose on the bridges for some impressive photographs. You can also take a trip on the Waterfall-Express train and learn more about the town. For thrill seekers, there is a high ropes course suspended in the forest canopy.
