The city’s musical heritage is maintained today through the popular Meiningen Court Orchestra, which was founded in 1692. Between the museums, concert halls and palaces, Meiningen is a tranquil place, with beautiful city gardens creating a sense of wellness. Meiningen is located almost directly in the middle of three of Germany’s main cities–Nuremberg, Frankfurt and Leipzig are all within 200 km of the city centre, while Berlin is around 400 km to the north east. Autobahn 71 connects the city with the rest of Germany, and the neighbouring Czech Republic to the south.
