The city is part of the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone, the most dynamic economic and industrial zone in China. Hong Kong is a renowned business destination, but Foshan has a lot going for it as well. Like in Hong Kong, Cantonese is spoken here. The population is around 7 million. Thanks to plenty of foreign investment, often done with Hong Kong as an intermediary, the city has much to offer from a business aspect, and hotels in Foshan are competitive and ready to welcome business travellers.
Foshan is an older city, and its main attractions are traditional buildings. Foshan Ancestral Temple is the city's best-known site, a Daoist temple built in the 11th century and rebuilt in the late 1300's. The Confucius and Baoling Temples also offer great insight into both Foshan's history and Chinese culture more generally.
Foshan is known as an appliance-producing industrial base and the city is home to the headquarters of huge home appliance conglomerates, including Midea, Kelon, Macro, and Glanz. In total, Foshan's industrial sector is estimated to be worth about 13 billion euros. The Foshan High-Tech Industrial Development Zone is a 10km2 area dedicated to industry and commerce. This, along with the city's burgeoning business districts where the aforementioned companies are housed, makes Foshan a business centre worth visiting. There are various trade fairs each year, like the Shunde Expo (featuring household appliances) and the Cerambath Fair (China International Ceramic and Bathroom Fair). There are also 129 wholesale markets in the city. The city is a railway hub – given this and the proximity to Hong Kong, it is very easy to travel to and from Foshan anywhere in the world, making the city ideal for business travellers.
For martial arts fans, there is a Martial Arts Museum, and the ancestral home of Bruce Lee, built by his uncle, is located in Foshan, though the star never lived there. For some time outdoors near your hotel in Foshan, head to Liang's Garden, a protected cultural relic comprising multiple gardens, homes, pagodas, and lakes.
