So it may come as a surprise to learn that this sleepy town in Baden-Wurttemberg is the home of one of the sporting world’s most outspoken stars: Boris Becker. The tennis legend learned his craft here, and his influence remains in the local sports centres and tennis courts, which hope to produce the next World No. 1. In addition to its sporting fame, Leimen is also famed for its year-round festivals and cultural events, as well as its booming local economy, which has seen it become the economic capital of its local district.
Leimen is one of a cluster of towns located in the fertile surroundings of the famous Rhein River. The town is situated just 28 km south of Mannheim, and 100 km north-west of Stuttgart, and it is connected to both cities by public transport and major roads. The French border is just 80 km away to the west.
Leimen is known as the industrial centre of the Rhein-Neckar district, and the town is home to a number of local and regional businesses, as well as a slew of entrepreneurs.
