Regensburg can be found on the dreamy Danube River in Bavaria, in southern Germany. The city is well-known for its perfectly preserved medieval centre, including the 12th century Stone Bridge, with 16 arches spanning the Danube, and the imposing Regensburg Cathedral. Book a hotel in Regensburg with views of the stunning cathedral spires for a particularly ambient business trip. Beyond historical Regensburg, the city is a hub for conferences and business events, especially in science and technology. Universität Regensburg holds many events year-round.
What is there to do in Regensburg?
Regensburg's medieval core is among the most impressive in Bavaria. After visiting the Stone Bridge and exploring the Regensburg Cathedral, be sure to check out Haidplatz (the central square). It's a great place to relax and people-watch, while the square's Old Town Hall was the site of the beginning of the 1663 Imperial Diet, the highest representative assembly of the Holy Roman Empire. Needless to say, this is a sight history buffs shouldn't miss.
Don't leave Bavaria without trying some traditional cuisine. Near the Stone Bridge you'll find the Sausage Kitchen, established in the 12th century. Have a bite while overlooking the bridge, and then wash it down with a beer from the Regensburger Weissbräuhaus, a local favourite.
Why should I do business in Regensburg?
Regensburg is one of the largest urban centres in Bavaria, and thanks to Universität Regensburg, it's always busy. The university often hosts large European tech conferences. The town is large enough to offer some excitement for travellers, but also small enough to easily find everything you need on foot. Regensburg has one of the strongest economies in Bavaria, with many world-renowned technology companies doing business here. Companies like BMW AG, General Electric, and Infineon AG (to name a few) also have offices in Regensburg.
What can I see and do near my Regensburg hotel?
Regensburg's architecture is truly spectacular. In addition to the Stone Bridge, head out from your Regensburg hotel to see the Roman city gate, Porta Pretoria, near the Danube. The towers in the Haidplatz are a mark of medieval ingenuity, especially the 50m Goldener Turm. Regensburg is also a city of art. Seeing the rococo sculptures and frescoes inside the Alte Kapelle (the Old Chapel) is a must-do. To see local medieval art, pay a visit to the Ostdeutsche Galerie.
