As a Mediterranean destination it should be no surprise that Monastir is home to a stunning coastline, filled with endless white sand beaches. Location: Tunisia’s east coast
Monastir can be found on the east coast of Tunisia, on the Mediterranean Sea. It is easily reached by plane via the Habib Bourguiba International Airport. Taxis are the best and most common way to arrive in the city centre from the airport. If traveling within Tunisia, there are regular trains with services to neighbouring cities.
Business: A tourist resort economy
Most of the local economy is supported by the tourism industry. There are many large and luxurious resorts in the area, particularly in the suburb of Skanes, where many tourists book their stays. One of the city’s largest companies here is the Tunisian airline, Nouvelair, which operates its head office in Monastir.

Monastir is a city with a very rich and long history. As a once home to the Phoenicians, this seaside city has seen many visitors in its many years.
